Struggling with August

I have the best job! Not only do I get the opportunity to shape and mold and love 20 kindergartners each year, but it also gives me so many amazing breaks and time off to be with my family!

Summer break is wonderful. Going back to work is hard. I'm struggling hard this year with getting back in the grind. I am going to miss my baby boy so much. All of our morning snuggles, our talks during our morning walk, playing, watching him learn, having his "help" during daily chores, just all of it - everything.

It's bittersweet. I get so excited thinking about my upcoming students and all of the things I have planned for them then I think of how much I will miss with Parker. Bleh! It's just hard and I know it isn't going to get any easier.

Thankfully, once school routines get established again, I will be home with Parker around 4 and we will have all evening together! Plus holidays and breaks! And I get to be with my students too!

I will survive!

He has developed quite the love for Starfall!

I have had the best summer with this boy! And Keith too! :-)

It's Almost Spring Break

1. This week in my kindergarten classroom, we have been leaving pictures for our sneaky lucky leprechaun! He comes and visits the room during the night, takes their pictures, and leaves the students a little surprise. He told us that if we made him awesome pictures every day, he would leave us a Pot of Gold on Friday! I CANNOT wait to see their excitement when they walk in the room tomorrow!!!

2. Tomorrow is the last day before Spring Break. This teacher is so stoked to spend an entire week home sweet home with her hubby and baby boy!

3. Over Spring Break I will be seeing lots of family! My best friend and her family will be here this weekend, spending Monday with my brother and his fiance, Wednesday with my Mom and Grandma, and every other day I plan on staying home or close to home!

4. The weather here is supposed to continue to be amazing for awhile. Parker just loves, loves, loves to be outside. I think we might move his {huge} outside toy to the backyard this weekend. It's currently taking up half of his room - no lie!

5. Since the time change, Parker has been going to bed so easily and right at 7:00. He seems so exhausted and is just ready to sleep after his bath. I love this!

Love my silly, sweet, crazy haired boy!

My Sweet Kinders

I don't post about my job on here very often but I am tonight.
I teach Kindergarten. I have 19 students that are 5/6 years old. They are amazing!
We are Teaming Up Against Drugs! I was missing a few today.

They crave learning new things. They soak it ALL up like a sponge. I can teach some in depth topics and I am so impressed at how much they remember!
They can tell you every little part of a penny, nickel, and dime. The color, how much it's worth, who is on the heads side, what is on the tails side, everything.
Back in September, we celebrated Freedom Week and they learned all about The Constitution and they wanted to make one for our classroom. So we did!
These angels make every day worth it.

I could go on and on {but I won't}. I just wanted to put it out there that these kids ROCK!

And so do the teachers I work with! We are quite the team!
Today was Team Up Against Drugs so we were sporting our favorite team gear!

A Lovely Friday Night

11 months & 4 days . . .
Our big boy took his very first step!!! He took a step all by himself to Mommy!
He wanted nothing to do with trying again for the video camera but I'm so beyond thrilled that he did it for me at home for the first time!
Update: We finally saw the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist and Parker will be getting tubes put in both ears in October. We are praying this brings him relief from the pain and that he can once again, sleep peacefully!

It has been another great week in Kindergarten! I'm so blessed to have such an amazing job that I love and the ability to be home on the weekends!

Long Time, No Blogging

Life got busy again. And I mean busy! I'm adjusting back into the routine of the working Mom. I miss Parker so much during the day that we play and cuddle/snuggle all evening. When he goes down for bed at 7:45-8, I collapse into bed as well. It is hard to work all day (teaching 19 kindergartners) and then work all night taking care of the lil man. But I wouldn't have it any other way! Sometimes {everyday} I wish that I could just sleep in for 1 extra hour, or even 30 minutes. In fact I just wish I could sleep past 6am. But P gets up and so do I. And you can bet that we cuddle in the early mornings!

Over the last few weeks:

  • I love my new Kindergarten class! They rock!
  • I am a Mentor Teacher this year to one of our new Pre-K teachers.
  • Our school hired a 6th K teacher on the 3rd day of school because we were overloaded
  • Parker is in love with his sitter!
  • I love me some NFL football
  • Parker has double ear infections right now . . . again
  • We go see the Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor on Monday for Parker
  • We are planning Parker's 1st Birthday Party! It's next month!
  • I live for the weekends where I am able to stay in pj's and play with my boy all day long!!!

At This Moment

* As much as I love my job, I'm not at all ready to go back on Monday. Being home with Parker is amazing and I'm blessed to have holidays and summers off.

* The Olympics are my favorite.

* I have been working on feeding Parker a lot of real food and it's safe to say that he is not a big fan just yet.

* I'm looking forward to introducing Parker to his new sitter and could use some prayers for when I have to leave him. He will love her but it's going to take him some time to adjust back to not having me all day every day.

* I have moments when my heart absolutely breaks at the thought of dropping him off. And when I do leave him, well, you Mommy's that work know how I feel.

Can you tell I have a bit of depression about going back?
